Today marked the opening of the IUCN Youth Summit in Abu Dhabi, a highlight where young people and young professionals from all walks of life come together to make their voices heard, share their visions and build tomorrow's solutions together.

We had the pleasure of participating and interacting with youth delegations from around the world: an inspiring moment, a seed that will sprout into beautiful future projects.

As Young Ambassadors for the Environment (YAE), we firmly believe in the key role of young people in inclusive and equitable nature conservation. Young people are not only agents of change, but also bearers of intergenerational transmission.

As a global union, IUCN has a duty to reflect this diversity and energy by fully integrating young people into its decisions and actions.

This is the essence of the Youth Strategy, which will guide youth action for the period 2022–2030. We are proud that Manon Bourhis and Noé Ade, members of the JAE and the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), have actively contributed to its development and shared vision.

This official Youth Summit ahead of the World Congress marks an important milestone that we hope will continue. The JAE will be present throughout the Congress to give young people a voice, defend their ideas and promote ever greater youth engagement within the Union.
