COP30 – What we're taking away from the JAE: clarity on the agreement, energy for action

COP30 in Belém has just come to an end.
The conclusion is clear:
the world was expecting a turning point,
the agreement does not yet respond to the urgency of the situation,
but multilateralism is holding firm, and that is essential.
In concrete terms:
• Countries have approved increased funding for adaptation, which is essential for countries and territories already on the front line of heatwaves, floods and coastal erosion.
• However, the COP failed to set out a clear path away from fossil fuels, which are at the heart of the problem.
• And many countries have not presented their new climate plans, which have been awaited for a year.
And yet, despite everything...
Belém has shown something essential: a global movement that refuses to give up.
We saw:
✨ young people speaking out and proposing solutions;
✨ indigenous peoples reminding us that protecting nature means protecting life;
✨ NGOs and networks standing firm on climate justice;
✨ coalitions of states, cities and territories already taking very concrete action.
At Young Ambassadors for the Environment, it is precisely this energy that guides us: that of a generation that is not content to simply comment, but wants to act, educate, protect, innovate and make a difference in their territories, in France, overseas and internationally.
The COP is a moment in time.
Real change is what we build between two COPs: local projects, workshops, advocacy, solidarity actions, partnerships, international exchanges.
👉 If you want to be part of this dynamic,
👉 if you want to get involved alongside other motivated young people,
👉 if you want to take action rather than wait...
The future needs those who believe in it – and who don't wait for the next round of negotiations to move forward.
