The World Urban Forum (WUF) was established by the United Nations in 2001 to tackle the challenges the climate, cities, and communities are facing as a result of rapid urbanization. The WUF conference brings together numerous people from all around the world every two years to discuss these relevant issues. The goals of this conference induce raising awareness and through the exchange of information improving collective knowledge regarding sustainable urban development

Each time since its creation the WUF has been held in a new country. The first-ever WUF was held in Nairobi, Kenya. Other locations it has been held in include Barcelona, Spain, Medellin, Colombia, Vancouver, Canada, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Naples, Italy, Katowice, Poland, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Nanjing, China. This year it will be held in Cairo, Egypt in the Egyptian International Exhibition Center from November 4th to 8th.

The Association of Young Ambassadors, amongst numerous other associations expected to take part in the WUF, aim to explore innovative approaches to tackle the challenge of adapting cities to climate change. Strengthening human and institutional capacity for climate change mitigation and adaptation is of great importance. Their goal is to facilitate knowledge exchange to improve collective understanding of the most functional practices among stakeholders involved in urban planning, environment, climate, and civil society. The Association of Young Ambassadors is seeking to highlight the value of integrating urban ecosystems into cities to strengthen their protection against climate change and including nature-based solutions to urban policies and strategies.
