Four years ago, the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille brought many of us together behind our screens. Today, in Abu Dhabi, we were finally able to meet in person. This is a real achievement and a symbol of a movement that has only grown stronger.
The Young Ambassadors for the Environment were present in Abu Dhabi for this youth summit at the World Conservation Congress.
The IUCN World Conservation Congress is much more than just an event for young people; it is an essential strategic platform. It is here that young leaders can exert a direct influence on the global conservation agenda by actively participating in the democratic process of the Members' Assembly. By contributing to the drafting and voting on motions, they ensure that their priorities are incorporated into the resolutions that will guide international environmental policy for the next four years. At the same time, the Forum offers them unprecedented access to a global network of experts, scientists and decision-makers, promoting skills development, experience sharing and the emergence of concrete collaborations. For young people, this summit is therefore a unique opportunity to transform mobilisation into political action and to move from being the ‘voice of tomorrow’ to a key player in conservation today.
