Last week, Astrid and Thomas, members of the Young Ambassadors for the Environment, were received at the Ministry for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature. They spoke with Ms. Adèle Foucault, civil society advisor to Minister Monique Barbut, about the role of young people in ecological transition.

The meeting was an opportunity to present the missions of JAE: a community of committed young people who represent the voice of youth in international negotiations, but also in local areas, through workshops, field visits and concrete biodiversity restoration projects.

We also reviewed our recent mobilisations, notably COP30 in Belém and the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, where the JAE led workshops and represented French-speaking youth in decision-making forums.

Finally, the exchange provided an opportunity to address two major issues for our generation: the rise of climate misinformation and the lack of awareness of biodiversity in schools. We shared our positions on strengthening environmental education and giving young people a greater say in public policy-making.
