In preparation for the third United Nations Ocean Conference , the French Committee of IUCN has decided to organize a day of conferences dedicated to the protection and restoration of the ocean.
The discussions will focus on strengthening marine protected areas, preserving marine species and restoring marine ecosystems, three major issues at the heart of the UNOC debates.
The JAE will be present to sign the call for action proposed by the French Committee of the IUCN, a strong text bringing together thirteen recommendations, including:
• The objective of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030 , in line with the commitments of the Kunming-Montreal global framework.
• The implementation of ambitious policies and investments in favor of marine ecosystems.
• Reducing the impact of fishing and protecting key areas for marine biodiversity.
Through this appeal, we encourage France to make ambitious commitments at the Nice conference and hope that it will result in a strong, action-oriented political declaration.
