At the opening of EU Green Week, the latest Eurobarometer on biodiversity sends a clear message: despite economic and geopolitical challenges, Europeans remain strongly committed to protecting nature. Over 90% consider biodiversity essential for health, food security, access to clean water, climate resilience, and long-term economic prosperity.
For the Young Environmental Ambassadors, this is a strong signal: we must sustain and strengthen European action for biodiversity. Public support for ambitious policies, protected areas, and the Natura 2000 network highlights the crucial role of the European Union in addressing environmental challenges.

The survey also underlines clear expectations: effective implementation of policies, stronger restoration efforts, and better integration of biodiversity into all public decision-making. The main threats identified—pollution, land-use change, and human-induced disasters—reinforce the urgency of coordinated action at the European level.
In this context, the Young Environmental Ambassadors reaffirm their commitment to advancing these priorities across Europe. Taking action means contributing to collective efforts, engaging in ongoing consultations, and ensuring that youth voices are heard in decision-making spaces. It also means building connections between young Europeans to share experiences, initiatives, and solutions.
Because the ecological transition is fundamentally a European project, we will continue to mobilize alongside institutions, networks, and civil society to promote strong ambition for biodiversity.
